Microsoft Addresses Kinect Concerns

Since its reveal at E3 last month, there's been plenty of confusion surrounding Microsoft's motion controller, Kinect. Developers at the event were telling us the camera couldn't detect seated players. Microsoft, though, quickly responded saying that yes, you can use Kinect while being seated.
The company further clarified today saying that whether or not players can be seated while using Kinect depends on what types of games or applications are developed for it.
"Kinect can be used while sitting when an experience is developed with sitting in mind," a representative told IGN. "With full body motion control, it is natural for Kinect games to be designed to get you off the couch: dancing, running, dodging, bending and kicking."
Microsoft said it expects players to be sitting while using applications like dashboard navigation and other video features, such as the recently announced Hulu Plus service.
"What we demonstrated at E3 was only the tip of the iceberg," the rep added. We're still waiting for Microsoft to clarify Kinect's multiplayer limits, but we'll find out soon enough.
Kinect is set for release on November 4, 2010.
